Art Works is excited to announce the opening of ‘Beyond The Corporeal Existence’, a powerful new exhibition in collaboration with London’s pioneering Gillian Jason Gallery, a third-generation, female-led gallery committed exclusively to championing women artists.
This group show brings together the works of three contemporary European artists, each redefining the portrayal of the body - the corporeal and beyond - through a distinctly feminine lens.

This presentation brings together lyrical, emotionally resonant paintings that explore memory, femininity, and transformation. From the contemplative stillness of Jenya Datsko’s figurative work, to the timeless references woven into Megan Baker and Eleanor Johnson’s painterly studies — which nod to Old Masters such as Carracci, Rubens, Matteis, and Taraval — the exhibition captures a moment suspended between past and present, physical and metaphysical.

Eleanor Johnson (b. 1994) is a UK-based contemporary artist celebrated for her dynamic paintings that fuse irreverent figuration with expressive abstraction. Drawing influence from Old Masters and contemporary media, her vivid canvases explore themes of the grotesque, sexuality, and the abject body with irony and exuberance. Her painterly language, often compared to Cecily Brown and Willem de Kooning, balances chaos with control. Johnson holds degrees from UCL and City & Guilds of London Art School, and her work has been exhibited internationally, including solo and group shows at Gillian Jason Gallery, LAPADA, and VOLTA Basel.
Megan Baker (b. 1996) is a London-based artist whose richly textured oil paintings transform art historical references into dreamlike abstractions. Inspired by Rubens, Titian and the British landscape, her work explores memory, time, and perception through shifting layers of gesture and colour. Her atmospheric compositions often suggest figuration just beyond recognition, inviting viewers into a space between familiarity and imagination. A graduate of Central Saint Martins and recipient of multiple painting awards, Baker’s work has been shown at VOLTA Basel, Women in Art Fair, and Eye of the Collector with Christie’s. Her practice spans painting, writing, and philosophical inquiry.
Jenya Datsko (b. 1991) is a Spain-based painter whose contemplative portraits reimagine the female figure as a symbol of strength, solitude, and emotional depth. Working primarily in soft, atmospheric tones, her subjects inhabit quiet, liminal spaces that invite reflection rather than demand attention. Influenced by poetry, literature, and fleeting moments of daily life, Datsko’s work evokes a profound emotional honesty rooted in shared human experience. Her paintings have been featured in Harper’s Bazaar and exhibited internationally, including solo presentations in Madrid and New York. She studied at ESAT and GALA in Valencia, where she continues to live and work.
Beyond the Corporeal Existence explores how three European artists reimagine the human body, through distinct and nuanced lenses. As women reclaiming the portrayal of women, their works move between physical reality and imagined or ethereal spaces, creating a layered dialogue on presence, identity, and representation. This interplay reflects the multifaceted nature of contemporary female practice, amplified by the context of their representation by Gillian Jason Gallery, a third-generation female-led space dedicated exclusively to women artists.
Jenya Datsko’s paintings are grounded in figurative stillness, capturing introspective moments. In contrast, Megan Baker and Eleanor Johnson suspend time through painterly echoes of Old Masters; Carracci, Rubens, Matteis, and Taraval, invoking memory, gesture, and transformation.
